Sears Tower
Becomes Willis Tower
Chicago's iconic Sears Tower has lost |
|
its name as part of a deal with London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings, Ltd. About 500 employees will be consolidated from Chicago area offices, and the company will occupy about 3.6 percent of the building.
We welcome Willis Group Holdings, Ltd., to the Sears Tower and recognize their contribution to the local economy. Their move to the Sears Tower will help to preserve and create jobs, which is especially important for the people of Chicago. While we support their move to the Sears Tower, we do not believe that renaming the building is the proper way to promote their business.Encourage Willis to preserve history and be respectful of the great City of Chicago and its people. Just because the name has changed doesn't mean it can't be changed back.
